The Governor olive oil is by far, the best olive oil I have ever tasted. It has a unique peppery aftertaste that enhances all you eat with it.

Just wanted to say that now I’ve discovered the Governor - it’s been a game changer in my diet and health. I know its history and how it’s processed, which gives it the flavour, depth and benefits it unquestionably has. It is expensive - but for now I need the best I can get.

Looks beautiful, lovely box, loads of literature, but i hope this doesnt reflect on the price, as i have bought this for health reasons as seen on the promotion, so by making it all fancy, I'm not sure its the right product for me, why dress it up if its great olive oil, drop the price and send simple (Please) sorry to be negative, tastes great, or is this for the very well off????, please get back to me with your thoughts.

I completely understand your concern about the packaging and price, and I’d love to give a bit of context. The Governor is a high-phenolic extra virgin olive oil, which means it’s exceptionally rich in natural antioxidants and polyphenols. It’s one of the few olive oils in the world that has been scientifically studied and proven to support health, particularly in the areas of inflammation, cardiovascular health, and oxidative stress.
To produce this type of oil, we use early-harvest, unripe olives—which have higher phenolic content but yield much less oil. This means significantly more olives are needed to make every bottle, which makes the production process far more costly than standard extra virgin olive oils.
As for the packaging—it was designed to reflect and protect the quality of what’s inside, and to share information about the oil's unique benefits. That said, we truly appreciate your feedback and understand that not everyone wants the extras.

Simply the best olive oil that there is!
Having now tried both the Limited Edition and the Premium Unfiltered Extra Virgin oil varieties, I can honestly say that I would struggle to choose between the two as I think they are both amazing. I love everything about the Governor oils: their characteristic aroma of grassy freshness, a very light viscosity and a peppery aftertaste with some pronounced bitterness, which I really like. Both varieties are extremely versatile and work fantastically well across numerous dishes both hot and cold. I personally also drink a shot of each oil first thing in the morning for overall wellbeing. An additional thank you to Maria, who, alongside fantastic customer service, provides some inspiring, easy to cook recipes.
As a health influencer, I understand the benefits of extra virgin olive oil, but not all olive oil is created equal, far from it. It’s important to choose a brand with high Polyphenols content that is harvested early and cold pressed. The Governor, now my go-to olive oil brand, accomplishes all these feats and it also tastes amazing.
I received my order and couldn’t wait to try it. Liz Earle was right, it is absolutely delicious and far superior to any other olive oil that I have ever tasted! For now, I am reluctant to share it , but due to its enormous health benefits, I will tell my husband all about it and know he will love it, too. So very grateful to Liz Earle for pointing me in the right direction.
