“This Olive Oil Is Exquisite” – Richard E. Grant Discovers The Governor in Corfu

During his visit, Richard met The Governor producer Spyros Dafnis for a private olive oil tasting, which he said he had never experienced before and was very much looking forward to. 

 
And his verdict on The Governor? “This olive oil is exquisite.”

Richard’s First Private Olive Oil Tasting

Richard immediately picked up on one of The Governor’s most distinctive characteristics, describing it as “very peppery” (a characteristic associated with its naturally occurring oleocanthal content), before declaring the olive oil “exquisite.”

During the programme, Richard and Spyros also discussed polyphenols, the naturally occurring compounds found in extra-virgin olive oil, and the growing body of scientific research on olive oil.

It was wonderful to see a mainstream television programme touch on how EVOO is more than an ingredient simply used for cooking: its provenance, olive variety, production, sensory characteristics and composition can all tell you something about the oil in the bottle.

Seeing Spyros share his knowledge with Richard and Richard genuinely enjoy discovering The Governor for the first time was a very special moment for us.
